Pastor Dan Roukema

Dan and and his wife, Andrea have three boys, and two dogs.  In 2004, Dan completed his Masters at Regent College - a seminary on the UBC campus in Vancouver, BC.

Dan’s spiritual journey during these years began in a home that taught him Jesus is Lord of all creation, and will redeem all things.  This foundation prepared Dan well for the journey ahead, which would include doubt, apathy, searching, and experiencing the hardships of life where everything is “not as its supposed to be”.

Dan loves the church and believes it exists for the purpose of participating in Christ’s mission of redeeming all creation. His greatest hope - for himself, for the church and for the world - is to be wide awake to what Christ has done, and is doing.  And that this wideawakeness would elicit thankfulness, service, joy and a welcomed embrace of our Creator.

Pastor Cari Fydirchuk

On January 3rd, 2018, Cari officially completed her seminary studies through Calvin Theological Seminary.  On this same day, she received and accepted the call to serve as Pastor of Pastoral care for Emmanuel CRC.

Cari, her husband Jason and their two girls live in Cochrane, AB, where they love to escape to the mountains to go camping and skiing.

Cari was blessed to grow up in a Christian home where she came to know a loving God; as the One who cares for us, protects us, guides us and invites us to be in relationship with him through our Saviour, Jesus Christ.  At a young age her Dad taught her that FAITH stands for Feeling Afraid I Trust Him.  These words have always stayed with Cari and she has often repeated them to herself as it is faith, this gift from God that has enabled her to get through some of life's most challenging times.

In the summer of 2015, Cari and her family experienced a deep personal loss.  In her time of grieving, Cari's faith was tested as she was pushed to limits beyond her control.  It was out of this place that God healed and transformed Cari, teaching her how to be Christ to others - to witness another's experience - another's journey.  Henry Nouwen in his book, In the Name of Jesus, writes "God has created us and redeemed us in love and has chosen to proclaim that love as the true source of all human life."

Pastor Cole Mattie

Cole and his wife, Anna, recently moved to Calgary from Edmonton. In 2020, Cole graduated from Vanguard College with a Bachelor of Arts in Theology. He spent four years in the Pastoral Ministry program, where he discovered more about his faith, the redemptive story of the bible, and his calling to pastor in a local church.

Cole is passionate about working with youth. He has spent years working with the nextgeneration at multiple bible camps, kids’ programs, and youth center. Cole loves traveling, adventures, having deep conversations, music, boardgames, skateboarding, and listening to audiobooks.

He desires to establish a prospering youth community by building connections with the youth and integrating the youth with Emmanuel Church. His prayer for the youth here at Emmanuel would be the strengthening of their faith, the desiring to pursue God in every area of their lives, and to prepare them for the Christian journey.

We are excited for the future of Emmanuel Youth with Cole in this new role.

Joy Robinson - Worship Arts Director

We’re excited to welcome Joy, our new Worship Director.

Originally from the beautiful island of Newfoundland, Joy has now called Calgary her home for 10 years. In 2014 she received her Diploma in Theatre Arts and the following year a BA in Leadership Development and has since been working in full time worship ministry as well as pursuing her passions in creative arts. For six summers, Joy acted in the Canadian Badlands Passion Play in Drumheller, Alberta and has worked with other theatre companies in Calgary such as Fire Exit Theatre, Storybook Theatre, and multiple productions with the theatre cohort at Ambrose University. She is passionate about sharing stories that provide hope, healing, and encouragement whether it be through the songs she has written, a play in the Calgary arts community, or a Sunday worship gathering.

Joy is thrilled to serve the community at Emmanuel CRC as the Worship Director and her desire is that every person would be moved to worship God not only through music and creative arts but through their very lives as they offer them as a living sacrifice to our living God.
